SPE Distinguished Lecturer (DL) 2020-2021

The SPE Distinguished Lecturer program is the yearly flagship of the International Society of Petroleum Engineers, which started in 1961 wherein the SPE extends the knowledge and experience of some of the industry’s top experts by making available to each of the 203 SPE worldwide sections up to three live lectures per year. Under the program, 30+ experts, selected by a rigorous peer-review process, travel the globe to share their expertise with industry professionals. These experts address current technical topics, answer countless questions, and advance technology on all fronts. The purpose of the program is to provide SPE sections with outstanding speakers for section meetings, and to recognize the professional contributions of the selected Distinguished Lecturers. The program promotes SPE’s mission to collect, disseminate, and exchange technical knowledge. It is funded primarily by the SPE Foundation through member donations, as well as a contribution from Offshore Europe. With speakers from various disciplines and professions, the program focuses on industry trends, challenges, and technology applications and advances. Following a rigorous selection process between January and October 2019, which included competitive presentation review meetings in Celle, Germany and Calgary Canada, Dr. Arukhe was selected as a 2020-2021 Distinguished Lecturer for the Society of Petroleum Engineers. Dr. Arukhe whose practical experience which spans nearly three decades as a top echelon petroleum engineer in Shell, Chevron, Exxon Mobil, Petro-Canada and Saudi Aramco, will serve as the Society of Petroleum Engineers’ ambassador for 2020-21. Those who represent the SPE in the Distinguished Lecturer Program are the Industry’s top experts and public speakers. They extend their knowledge and experience around the world to over 190 sections accomplishing the SPE mission. The SPE Distinguished Lecturer Committee will only select 30-35 individuals to represent SPE in this prestigious program each year.
